Westvale Elementary SNAP

Parents of students who walk to school are encouraged to show their students the suggested safest route and how to avoid problem areas prior to the beginning of the school year.  We ask that parents remind children to follow local safety laws and ordinances. If students are on a bus route and miss the morning bus, it is strongly recommended that parents drive these students to school.  If students miss the afternoon bus, they are required to call parents or specified neighbors for a ride home.

AREA ONE

Students who live north of Sugar Factory Road will use the safest, most direct route from their home to 2200 West or 2700 West.

Students traveling to 2200 West will walk south on the west side of 2200 West to Sugar Factory Road.  At Sugar Factory road and 2200 West students will follow directions of the crossing guards and continue to Westvale.

Students traveling to 2700 West will use the crosswalk in front of West Jordan High School and cross to the west side of 2700 West.  Students will walk south on the west side of 2700 West to Haund Drive and follow directions of the crossing guards to the east side of 2700 West.  They will walk south to Gardner Lane and proceed east on the north side of the road to Westvale.

Students are strongly encouraged to use the sidewalk.  If students use the bike path, they are encouraged to stay close to the sidewalk.

AREA TWO

Students who live north of West Jordan City Park are encouraged to use the sidewalk on the south side of 7800 South to 2200 West.  They will walk on the east side of 2200 West to Sugar Factory Road, where they will follow the directions of the crossing guard to cross Sugar Factory Road.  They will continue south on the east side of 2200 West to Westvale.

Students who live south of Sugar Factory Road and between 2200 West and Redwood Road are encouraged to follow the safest, most direct route to 2200 West.  Due to the impact of TRAX at the intersection of 2200 West and Sugar Factory Road, students will no longer be allowed to cross 2200 West. Instead, they will walk south on the east side of 2200 West to the intersection of Gardner Lane.  A crossing guard will assist students in crossing 2200 West to Westvale.

Students living directly off of Gardner Lane (on Shulsen Lane or Redwood Road) will walk west on the north side of Gardner Lane to 2200 West.  A crossing guard will assist them in crossing 2200 West to Westvale.

Students are strongly encouraged to use the sidewalk.  If students use the bike path, they are encouraged to stay close to the sidewalk.
